UPDATED: Due to AHSAA changes, T.R. Miller’s tournament will be played Wednesday and Thursday instead of Tuesday and Thursday. The games will be played at the same times.

With their regular seasons complete, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger and the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle softball teams will be competing in their area tournaments this coming week.
T.R. Miller is the No. 2 seed in their area tournament behind area champion Excel. Clarke County is the No. 3 seed followed by Washington County and Bayside.
The area tournament will be in Excel with the first five games set for Wednesday, May 4. Games six through nine will be played May 5.
T.R. Miller and Clarke County will play at noon with the winner playing at 6 p.m. against the Washington County/Bayside vs. Excel winner. Excel has a first round bye.
If T.R. Miller loses games one against Clarke County, they will play at 4 p.m. against the Washington County/Bayside loser.
The area tournament is double elimination.
Games Thursday in Excel will be at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and the championship game at 6 p.m. The “if necessary game” will be played at 8 p.m.
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles are in a waiting game right now as to the location of their area tournament. W.S. Neal will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
The tournament will be played at the area champion, either Jackson or Thomasville.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagle head coach Jeff Haney said the game would either be one day or two depending on who wins between Thomasville and Jackson.
“That will not be decided until Friday because it deals with winning records vs. non-region opponents,” Haney said. “Thomasville and Jackson still have games this week. It will either be at Jackson on May 2 and May 3 or at Thomasville on May 3.
The two teams are tied and will come down to the tiebreakers set by the AHSAA.
