Indians win Brewton Babe Ruth championship Friday

In the final games of the 2011 Brewton Babe Ruth schedule Friday night at T.R. Miller field in Brewton, the Pirates and the Indians ended their seasons with wins and the Indians earned the season championship.
In game one Friday, the Pirates ended their season with a big win as they defeated the Cardinals 14-4.
In game two, the Indians defeated the Orioles 3-1 to clinch the title.
The final standings for the league were the Indians in first place with an 11-1 record followed by the Orioles in second place with a 6-6 record. The Cardinals and Yankees finished the season with identical 5-7 records, but the Cardinals took third place and the Yankees fourth as the Cardinals held a 2-1 head-to-head record over the Yankees.
The Pirates rounded out the five-team league with a 3-9 record as they took fifth place.

Pirates 14, Cardinals 4
With the game tied 4-4 after three innings, the Pirates scored 10 unanswered runs Friday to take down the Cardinals 14-4.
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning, but the Pirates plated one in the second and one in the third to take a 4-2. After the Cardinals tied the game with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning, the Pirates scored three in the fourth, six in the fifth and one in the sixth inning to get the win by 10 runs.
Lane Chavers pitched five innings in the win for the Pirates and Patrick Glass pitched one.
Miles Powell, Nick Laster, and Todd Mayo pitched in the loss for the Cardinals.
At the plate for the Pirates, Taylor Elliott was 2-for-3 and Dalton Smith was 1-for-3 with a double.
Chris Jones was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple and Logan Allen was 2-for-3. Alex O’Keane rounded out the Pirate hitters going 3-for-4.
For the Cardinals, Powell was 1-for-3 with a double and Darby Black and Lowell Swain were both 1-for-3.

Indians 3, Orioles 1
The Indians capped off their season championship Friday night with a 3-1 win over the Orioles.
After three scoreless innings by both teams to start the game, the Indians plated the first run of the game as they scored one in the bottom of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Orioles added two runs to claim a 3-0 lead and carried that lead into the top of the seventh.
In the seventh, the Orioles scored one run to cut the lead to two, but failed to plate anymore as the Indians earned the win by two.
Tripp Floyd earned the win on the mound for the Indians going the complete game allowing three hits, one unearned run, walked none and struck out seven.
Caden Lodge took the loss for the Orioles going six innings and allowing four hits, three earned runs, walked seven, hit one and struck out six.
For the Orioles, Dominique Jackson and Zac Griffin were both 1-for-3 while Jared Salter was 1-for-2.
For the Indians, Christian Alvarez was 1-for-3 with the first RBI of the game.
Brandon Carmichael was 1-for-2 with a triple and Rob Stokes was 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Tyler Joyner was 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
