We have all heard the sayings: “There is no place like home” and “Home Sweet Home.”
I recently found this to be true. After planning my vacation time a year in advance, my family and I went on vacation last week. After being gone for nine days, it was nice to see Brewton and my home again and sleep in my own bed.
Sticking with the theme of home, I looked at the home football records for our area football teams—W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller— from the past five seasons (2006-2010).
Usually, a certain team will perform better on their home field than they do on the road.
After looking at the records, T.R. Miller has a record of 26-7 on the road in those five years for a winning percentage of .839.
W.S. Neal is 10-17 in that same span for a percentage of .370.
Starting in 2006, T.R. Miller went 5-2 at home followed by a 2-3 record in 2007, a 7-1 record in 2008 and 2009 and a 5-0 record last year at home.
W.S. Neal, in that same span, has went 4-2, 3-2, 2-4, 1-4, and most recently 0-5 in 2010.
Combined, the two teams have gone 36-24. The best combined home records for the two teams was 9-4 in 2006.
On the contrary, the two teams have combined to go 30-24 in road games.
T.R. Miller is 20-8 on the road during the 2006-2010 seasons while W.S. Neal is 10-16. T.R. Miller’s winning percentage is .714 on the road while W.S. Neal is .385.
Looking at W.S. Neal’s percentage, the Eagles have a better percentage on the road than at home.
T.R. Miller, starting in 2006, has gone 5-0, 3-3, 6-0, 3-1, and 3-4 on the road while W.S. Neal has went 6-0, 3-3, 0-4, 1-4, and 0-5.
The best combined records for the team on the road was in 2006 where they posted an 11-0 record as to going 9-4 at home.
In that same span of records, T.R. Miller has posted two undefeated records on the road in 2008 and 2006 while only going undefeated once at home in 2010.
W.S. Neal’s best home record was in 2006 where they went 4-2.
