A third trial began Monday for Brewton native Donnie Stallworth, who was charged with murder along with six others in the killing of a Pensacola area couple.
Stallworth, a 1999 graduate of T.R. Miller High School and a former staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, was charged in the July 2009 shooting deaths of Byrd and Melanie Billings, a Florida couple known for their adoption of special needs children.
The first two trials last spring ended in hung juries.
The so-called mastermind of the crimes was found guilty and sentenced to the death penalty in February.
