An undercover investigation by members of the Narcotics Division of the Brewton Police Department led to the arrest of a former Walmart employee.
Lashawnda Watson was arrested and charged with distribution of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
K9 officer Russell Clausell said the arrest was made this week after the Department received a tip about illegal activity near Walmart.
“We were told about someone selling prescription drugs in the vicinity of Walmart and began conducting an investigation,” Clausell said. “We observed activity inside and outside the store during the investigation.”
Clausell said the Watson was observed outside the store and once she left the premises, the arrested was made charging her with illegal drug distribution.
Clausell said he was assisted in the investigation by Lt. Bryan Davis and Cpl. Brian Wesley, both members of the BPD Narcotics Division.
Watson was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where she was booked on the charges against her. She was released on a $100,000 bond.
