TRM 2, Andalusia 1
In the first game of the tri-match Monday, T.R. Miller defeated Andalusia 2-1.
The Lady Tigers lost the first set 25-13 before winning game two 25-19 and game three 15-11.
In game one, Amber Nelson had seven service points, four kill and three blocks while Leah Brundidge had two service points and two kills. Taylor Guthrie added four kills and four blocks.
In the game two win, Nelson had eight service points, six kills and four blocks while Brundidge added six points and two kills. Guthrie had three points, six kills and six blocks and Miranda McNamara added four service points.
In the deciding game three, McNamara had five service points and one kill while Guthrie had four points, four kills and three blocks. Amber Nelson added two points, three kills and three blocks in the win.
“Andalusia has a very good volleyball program and their team made it to the Elite 8 last year,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “We came out flat and got behind early and lost game one. After that we settled down and played pretty good the rest of the day. Andalusia had a couple of real good hitters that gave us problems early but we were able to make some adjustments at the net and slow down their hitting a little bit. Overall, I think we played pretty good defense, which allowed us to transfer that into some good offense. I think the difference in the game was our ability to serve more consistent. We’ve spent a lot of time on that at practice and I think it paid off for us in this game.”

TRM 2, Elba 0
In the second game of the tri-match Monday in Andalusia, the Lady Tigers defeated Elba 2-0.
T.R. Miller won game one 25-16 and game two 25-23.
In game one, Miranda McNamara had six service points and Nelson had six, five kills and three blocks. Brundidge added six points and one block and Karisa Nelson had three service points, eight assists and two kills.
In game two, Moriah Brundidge had four service points and Guthrie added seven points, seven kills and three blocks.
Leah Brundidge had three points and three kills while Amber Nelson had three points, six kills and four blocks. McNamara added four points and 12 kills while Karisa Nelson had four points, nine assists and one kill.
“Just like Andalusia, Elba was a team that made it to the Elite 8 last year in Pelham also,” White said. “They had a couple of really good players and they played hard. I thought we did a lot of good things with our sets and our hitters were probably the major difference in the game. Our goal was to hit the ball hard and make their team play defense by digging the ball out. We did that and it made Elba commit several errors on defense. These were two big wins over two quality opponents. Hopefully we can keep playing at a high level with the county tournament and area tournament coming up.”
