TRM to have powder puff football game

T.R. Miller High School’s male and female students will swap roles for a good cause Oct. 18 when the school’s Relay for Life team hosts a powder puff football game.
The cost of admission is $3 for the 6:30 p.m. game, and all money received will help benefit the T.R. Miller High School Relay for Life team.
“The reason for the event is to raise money for the fight against cancer research,” T.R. Miller High School Relay for Life organizer Debra Mullis said. “Elizabeth Althauser and I were brain storming fundraiser ideas and she mentioned this idea. I collected all the information needed to make it happen. But I must say it would not be successful without the help of our coaches, students, teachers and the support of our principal Mrs. Mary Bell.”
Mullis said the powder puff game will be fun for all students whether they are participating or coming to support their favorite teams.
“The teams are made up of girls,” Mullis said. “We have the freshman and seniors on the purple team being coached by Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Clements and sophomores and juniors on the pink team, which is being coached by Mrs. McIntyre and Ms. Dunaway.”
Not only will girls be playing football, but each team will also have a cheer squad, which are the boys from each class, Mullis said.
“We hope the public will come out and support TRM’s Relay For Life team and have fun as we host our first in a very long time powder puff game,” Mullis said. “All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.”
