The 2011 Alabama High School Athletic Association volleyball regional tournaments will begin Saturday and both W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller’s teams will be in the action.
W.S. Neal will be making their second trip to the regionals in school history and first since 2008 when they will travel to Andalusia Saturday for a 10 a.m. game against the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs. W.S. Neal is the class 4A area 2 runner-up to Monroe County. T.R. Miller, who is the class 3A area 1 runner-up to Bayside Academy will be making a return trip back to regionals and will take on Montgomery Academy Saturday in Montgomery at 11:15 a.m.
T.R. Miller advanced to regionals last season and placed in the top four teams to advance to sub state and later on to the school’s first ever appearance at the Elite 8 in Pelham.
W.S. Neal is currently 9-14 while T.R. Miller’s record is 23-3.
First-round pairings for the regional tournaments are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15. The top four finishers in each regional tournament will advance to the sub-state round Oct. 20. The AHSAA Elite Eight state tournament will be played at the Pelham Civic Complex Oct. 26-27.
