A combination of guns, intoxication and a parking lot landed one Brewton man behind bars Friday and has him facing a variety of drug charges.
Clinton Miller Ball was arrested following a traffic stop by officer Troy Hart Friday evening.
Sgt. Andrew Casey said the arrest came after a report of two intoxicated males with guns in the Walmart parking lot.
“We had gotten a call about two intoxicated subjects in possession of a shotgun leaving the Walmart parking lot,” Casey said. “Our officers were on the lookout for a black Ford pickup truck after we got those calls.”
Casey said Officer Hart performed the traffic stop on the truck on Douglas Avenue shortly after receiving the information.
“Several people had observed the two intoxicated subjects,” Casey said. “The callers gave us the vehicle’s description and their direction of travel.”
Casey said once the vehicle was stopped, officers searched the vehicle and found several firearms and a variety of drugs.
“Ball was identified as the driver of the vehicle,” Casey said. “He was found to be in possession of approximately an ounce of marijuana and several types of controlled substances including Lortab, Xanax and Klonopin.”
Ball was also in possession of a glass pipe that contained drug residue, Casey said.
Ball faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
