William Ellis ‘Billy’ Townsend Jr., 65, of Townsend Farm Road died Tuesday Oct. 18, 2011 at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Birmingham, and a life long resident of Brewton. He was a 1964 graduate of T.R. Miller High School, U.S. Airforce veteran, and a retired timber Inspector from A.W. Williams Inspection Company with more than 40 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Allan Townsend of Brewton; a son, Will (Melissa) Townsend of Birmingham; a daughter,  Holli (Jerry) Hawsey of Brewton; five grandchildren, Hayden Hawsey, Zac Townsend,
Annabeth Hawsey, Tyson Townsend and Taylor Hawsey.
Private graveside services will be held Thursday, October 20, at 10 a.m. at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Hawsey officiating. Burial followed at will follow in Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
