BMS basketball defeats Repton Thursday for first wins

Both the Brewton Middle School Lady Tiger and Tiger basketball teams picked up their first wins of the season Thursday night at home as they defeated the Repton Bulldogs.
With the wins for both teams, both teams improved to 1-2.
The Lady Tigers defeated Repton 30-21 and the Tigers defeated Repton 31-17.
Both teams will be back in action Monday at home as they take on W.S. Neal. Game time is set for 5 p.m. with the girls playing followed by the boys game around 6 p.m.

BMS Lady Tigers 30, Repton 21
The Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers used an 8-0 run in the third quarter to take a 26-7 lead over Repton Thursday night then held on for a nine-point win, 30-21, for their first win this season.
The Lady Tigers opened the game on a 6-0 run and led Repton 10-2 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Brewton edged out Repton 8-5 in the quarter to take an 18-7 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers started the second half on an 8-0 run to take a 26-7 lead with 3:26 left in the quarter.
From there, Repton went on a 7-0 run of their own to cut the lead to 26-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
Repton would continue on their run in the fourth quarter and increase it to a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 26-17 with 3:01 left in the game.
Brewton would end the run but be outscored 7-4 in the quarter but held on for the win by nine.
Tempest Thompson led Brewton with 14 points and Emonea Curry had six points. Anilah Brazille added four points in the win along with four from Mekia Williams.
Serena Smith added two points in the win.
Brewton attempted no free throws in the win while Repton was 7-for-12 from the line.

BMS boys 31, Repton 17
The Brewton Middle School Tigers had runs of 10-0 in the second quarter and third quarter along with starting the game on a 6-0 run to aid in a 14-point win over Repton Thursday at home, 31-17.
The Tigers led 6-0 with 3:07 left in the first quarter and held a 6-2 lead after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Repton went on their own 6-0 run to tie the game 6-6 with 4:53 left before the half before the Tigers added a 10-0 run to lead 16-6 at the half.
T.R. Miller extended their run to 12-0 with 5:48 left in the third quarter to lead 18-6.
Brewton added a 10-0 run later in the quarter to lead 28-8 with 1:51 left in the quarter before holding a 28-10 lead after three quarters of play.
In the fourth, Repton outscored Brewton 7-3 as the Tigers won by 14 points.
Brewton was 2-for-7 from the free throw line while Repton was 3-for-6.
Markail Mitchell led with 11 points while Devonte Peterson added eight. Ahmad Taylor had five points in the win while Jo Jo Booker had four points. Tamerick Jenkins added three points.
