TRM Lady Tigers get first win on final day of tourney

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger basketball team picked up their first win of the season Wednesday in the final day of the Choctawhatchee Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Lady Tigers defeated Pensacola Catholic 40-22 to improve their overall record this season to 1-2. With the win, the Lady Tigers finished in seventh place in the tournament out of eight teams.
In the win Wednesday, the Lady Tigers used a big second half to get the 18-point win.
T.R. Miller led Catholic 10-8 after one quarter of play and 16-13 at the half following a 6-5 advantage in the second quarter.
In the second half, the Lady Tigers outscored Catholic 24-9 to get their first win.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller jumped on Catholic 13-5 to increase their lead to 29-18 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Lady Tigers held Catholic to four points while racking in 11 to carry themselves to the win.
The Lady Tigers had only three scorers in the game with two being double digits. Leah Brundidge led the Lady Tigers with 23 points in the game, outscoring Catholic’s team by one.
LaTeysia Montgomery poured in 12 points to help aid in the win and Taylor Guthrie chipped in five points.

Tuesday: Spanish Fort 45, TRM Lady Tigers 39
In their second game this season and their second game in the Choctawhatchee Thanksgiving Tournament Tuesday, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger basketball team saw their record fall to 0-2 as they lost to Spanish Fort 45-39.
In the game Tuesday, the Lady Tigers trailed 15-10 after the first quarter and 27-16 at the half following a 12-6 advantage in the second quarter for Spanish Fort.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers were able to cut into the lead of Spanish Fort as they outscored the Lady Toros 10-6 in the quarter to trail 33-26 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller once again outscored Spanish Fort, this time with a 13-12 advantage, but would lose by six points, 45-39.
Leah Brundidge led the Lady Tigers in the loss with 20 points while Jasmine Montgomery added six points along with LaTeysia Montgomery.
Taylor Guthrie chipped in five points in the loss and O’Nesha Hall added two points.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action at home Tuesday against Atmore.
The game Tuesday will also be the first games of the season for the T.R. Miller B-team and the varsity boys.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. with the B-teams starting things off followed by the girls, then the varsity boys.
