Staff and administrators will be on hand Saturday, Dec. 3 to offer information and assistance with college applications and other paperwork requirements for college enrollment.

Dr. Rosemary Watkins of the Southern Normal campus, said some of the paperwork can be confusing.
“We want to help people be familiar with the process of filling out some of the paperwork,” Watkins said. “Everyone who applys tor financial aid will be required to complete the FAFSA forms and it can be quite confusing. We want to be available to answer any questions about filling out the form or any other questions a college-bound student may have.”
Watkins said the information day isn’t just for students who plan to attend ASU.
“This event is open to anyone who is interested in attending college,” Watkins said. “We will be providing a lot of useful information.”
Watkins said information about upcoming courses offered through the Alabama State University will also be available Saturday.
“The upcoming semester will be the first time that students will be able to pursue off-campus graduate courses in the school of education,” Watkins said. “There will be four courses available for the semester that will last no longer than eight weeks. Classes will be on Friday and Saturday each week.”
ASU will also begin offering professional development courses for teacher leaders, principals and other administrative professionals, Watkins said.
“These courses will be for professionals similar to what CEU courses are for teachers,” Watkins said. “The first course will be ‘Integrating Technology into the 21st Century Classroom Setting’ and will begin the end of January.”
Saturday’s information day will begin with FAFSA information at 11:30 a.m. with other information sessions beginning at 12:30 p.m. in Van Vorst Hall.
Seating is limited and pre-registration is encouraged. To register, call the ASU Brewton campus at 867-4831.
Door prizes will be awarded refreshments will be served.
