Mrs. Ethel Johnson Sanders, 81, died Nov. 23, 2011. She was a member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a foster parent for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Tellis Sanders Sr.; her parents, Louis and Ada Johnson; 10 siblings and four sons, Willie R. Sanders, Anthony Sanders, Ronnie Sanders and Tellis Sanders Jr.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Mary Riley and Ada McMillian, both of East Brewton, Sherman (Linda) Sanders, Kenneth Williams and Cynthia Brooks, all of Evergreen, and Christina (Ragan) Wright of Warner Robbins, Ga.; an adopted son and daughter, Elder Willie Neal and Michelle Johnson, both of Evergreen; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mandy Salter of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Minnie (Dan) Sowden of Montgomery; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Evergreen with the Rev. Duron Odom officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
