In a Monday night game at Flomaton, the T.R. Miller Tiger B-team and varsity Tigers picked up their second straight wins this season while the Lady Tigers saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.
The B-team Tigers improve to 2-2 this season with a 35-17 win over Flomaton while the Lady Tigers dropped to 4-3 with a 28-22 loss to the Lady Canes. The varsity Tigers improved to 2-2 with a 66-49 win.
The Lady Tiger and varsity Tiger basketball teams will play in the Escambia County basketball tournament Friday and Saturday in East Brewton.
The B-team Tigers will be off until Friday, Dec. 23 when they travel to Atmore along with the Lady Tigers and Tigers to face the Escambia County Blue Devils.

TRM B-team 35, FHS 17
After a close first half, the T.R. Miller Tiger B-team pulled away in the second half to defeat Flomaton 35-17.
Flomaton led T.R. Miller 6-2 after the first quarter but saw the Tigers roar back with a 7-0 run in the second quarter to claim a 9-8 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Tigers outscored Flomaton 26-9 including 12-5 in the third quarter and 14-4 in the fourth to get the win by 18 points.
Jalen Jones led with 13 points in the win and Keion Smith had eight. Trae Walker chipped in five points and Micah McKinney had three points. Michael Woods, Kellyn Winn and Jamar Prime all had two points in the win.

FHS 28, TRM Lady Tigers 22
Leading 19-17 after three quarters, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers were outscored 11-3 in the fourth quarter to fall by six points, 28-22.
Leading by two points to start the quarter, the Lady Tigers increase their lead to 21-17 with 5:35 left in the game.
From there, Flomaton would go on a 5-0 run to take a 22-21 lead with 2:10 left in the game. After the Lady Tigers tied the game at 22 with 1:05 left to play, Flomaton would end the game on a 6-0 run to stun the Lady Tigers 28-22.
The Flomaton defense keyed in on Lady Tiger point guard Leah Brundidge forcing other Lady Tigers to make plays, which did not happen according to Lady Tiger head coach Ron Jackson.
“We played young most of the ballgame,” Jackson said. “We played in spurts. We need some of the younger girls to step up like Leah (Brundidge). We need everyone else to step up. We need some good play out of Shay Nicholson, Jasmine Montgomery, O’Nesha Hall and LaTeysia Montgomery. We have to get them to step up some and play. We also need Morgan (Rowell) off the bench to help too. We need to find someone else to step up and make a basket. Shay had been doing it in most of these other games, but we didn’t get that tonight and that cost us.”
After trailing 4-0 to start the game, the Lady Tigers rallied to lead 10-6 after the first quarter and went on to lead 12-11 at the half and 19-17 after the third quarter before being outscored in the fourth by eight points.
Brundidge led the Lady Tigers with 16 points and Lateysia Montgomery added four. Jasmine Montgomery had two points in the loss.

TRM varsity 66, Flomaton 49
After getting their first win of the season Saturday over W.S. Neal, the varsity Tigers made it two straight with a 66-49 win over Flomaton.
The Tigers, who trailed Flomaton 26-23 at the half, came out firing in the second half to outscore the Hurricanes 43-23 in the second half to get the win by 17 points.
The Tigers came out in the third quarter on an 8-0 run to turn a three-point deficit into a 31-26 lead.
The Tigers would go on and outscore Flomaton 18-11 in the quarter to claim a 41-37 lead heading into the fourth. In the fourth, T.R. Miller outscored Flomaton 25-12 to get the win.
The Tigers had three players in double figures in the win with Mark Bryant leading the way with 22 points and Darrion Salter following closely with 21 points. Kameron Winn added 11 points and Jaquan Dewberry had eight. David Barragan added four points in the win.
“I am really proud of the boys,” Jackson said. “They went out and played with tenacity the whole ballgame and beat a really good Flomaton ball club. Flomaton always seems to have some great shooters and they hustle and they are always coached to execute. Those are the types of people we are going to have to beat if we are going to make the playoffs. I think that is the start of something good. Every time we get a win, it boosts our confidence and I think we are heading in the right direction.”
