William Brown

The Rev. William Brown, 72, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. He was a native of Belleville and a resident for most of his life of Brewton. He attended Conecuh County, Trading School and Wynona Technical College. He preached at Greater Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a familiar face to those he ministered to around Brewton. He ran his own business for 16 years and taught at Southern Normal for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Brown; his mother, Johnette Fountain Brown; a sister, Kathleen Brown and three brothers, Robert Brown, Claud Brown and Douglas Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Brown; a son, Kirk (Nikyla) Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Mishekee Brown of Columbus, Ga., and Shelby (James) Harris of Pensacola; two step-children, Anita (Columbus) Jones of Tuscaloosa and Vernon McMeans of Montgomery; a brother, Leslie Fountain of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three sisters, Johnnie Brown,  Synthia Brown and Jacqueline Brown, all of Brewton’ five grandchildren, Madison and Ryan Jr. of Columbus, Derrie Shaquana), Kimberly (Daniel) and Courtney of Pensacola; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Straughn and the Rev. Dr. Sidney Tucker officiating. Burial followed at Pine Grove Church Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
