A Brewton man will be in Mobile this morning hoping for a chance to sing at the 2012 Senior Bowl event.
Hal Parker, an officer with the Brewton Police Department, will shed the uniform and stand before judges as part of a field of 75 hopefuls vying for an opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the event later this month.
“They were going to audition 75 people,” Parker said Friday. “I’ll be singing at 10:50 a.m. and will have to wait and see how it goes. They will narrow it down to eight singers and those singers will have a second audition later Saturday.”
Parker said the auditions would end with the eight on Saturday as the field is narrowed to three finalists for the honor.
“Whoever makes it to the final three will go back at another time and continue to audition,” Parker said. “Those three will also be singing on the morning show of a Mobile television station.”
Parker is known around Brewton as a singer having performed at the Brewton Songwriter’s Festival and at area venues.
