David Monroe Blair

Mr. David Monroe Blair, 83, of Appleton Road died Wednesday Feb. 1, 2012 at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Brewton, a former resident of Georgia and Mobile, before moving back to Brewton. He was a member Central Church of Christ in Monroeville, and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in 82nd Airborne. He owned and operated The School Wear Express, and was active in the church and community service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Anglee Pettis Blair.
He is survived by a son, Brad Blair of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Rebecca Gebbie (David) Sessions of LaFayette, Ga., and Belinda (Craig) Smelser of Winter Haven, Fla.; a sister Thelma Crutchfield of Brewton; eight grandchildren Jeremy Blair, Jason Blair, Jon-David Blair, Percy David Sessions III, Leslie Johnson, Jessie Sessions, Nicholas Smelser, Christopher Smelser; four great-grandchildren, William Sessions, Caroline Sessions, Parker Blair, and Jon-David Blair, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Brad Blair, Speaker Craig Smelser, and Minister Perry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Hanberry Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
