TRM Lady Tigers defeat Hillcrest while B-team falls in double OT

In their final regular season game Friday at home against Hillcrest, the T.R. Miller B-team Tigers fell in double overtime while the Lady Tigers won and the varsity Tigers lost.
The B-team Tigers lost 43-37 to end their season with a 3-11 record. In girls action, the Lady Tigers won 32-27 to improve to 14-9 while the varsity Tigers lost 54-35 to drop to 7-13.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play Bayside in the area tournament Thursday in Grove Hill while the varsity Tigers were scheduled to play Excel in their area tournament Tuesday in Grove Hill.

Hillcrest 43, TRM B-team 37
After being tied after regulation and the first overtime period, the T.R. Miller Tiger B-team was outscored 9-3 in double overtime to lose by six.
Hillcrest led T.R. Miler 7-6 after one quarter before the Tigers rallied in the second quarter to tie the game at 14 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Hillcrest outscored T.R. Miller 8-6 to grab a 22-20 lead over the Tigers heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller edged out Hillcrest 13-11 to tie the game at 33 and force overtime.
In the first overtime period, both teams scored one point each to send the game into a second overtime tied at 34.
In the second overtime period, T.R. Miller was outscored 9-3 to take the loss by six.
Trae Walker led in the loss with 13 points.
The Tigers shot 5-for-9 from the free throw line in the loss while Hillcrest was 14-for-23.

TRM Lady Tigers 32, Hillcrest 27
A big first quarter for the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers against Hillcrest Friday was almost for naught as the Lady Tigers had to hang on for a five-point win over Hillcrest.
T.R. Miller led 14-1 after one quarter of play but fell to a 9-0 run in the second quarter to lead 20-14 at the half.
In the third quarter, Hillcrest started the game on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 20, but T.R. Miller would lead 25-23 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, T.R. Miller edged out Hillcrest 7-4 to get the win by five.
T.R. Miller senior Leah Brundidge had a big night on senior night as she finished with 22 points. Taylor Guthrie and LaTeysia Montgomery added four points each while Nastarcia Drakeford finished with two.
T.R. Miller was 4-for-8 from the free throw line while Hillcrest was 4-for-15.

Hillcrest 54, TRM varsity 35
The T.R. Miller Tigers saw their regular season end Friday with a 54-35 loss to Hillcrest.
Hillcrest led T.R. Miller 10-9 after one quarter and 24-18 at the half following a 14-9 run for the Jags in the second quarter.
In the third, Hillcrest outscored T.R. Miller 12-8 to increase their lead to 36-26 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Hillcrest ended the game on an 18-9 run to get the win by 19.
Darrion Salter led T.R. Miller with 10 points and Marc Edged finished with nine.
Caleb Dickey added six points and Mark Bryant finished with five.
