The Alabama House has passed its first bill of the 2012 legislative session — and it is one sponsored by Rep. Alan Baker, R-Brewton.
The bill changes the name of the Alabama Development Office — the state’s industry recruitment agency — to the Department of Commerce.
The bill passed 94-1 Thursday.
Baker told the Associated Press the name change aligns Alabama’s industry recruitment agency with those in other states, which could help recruit more jobs.
