Firefighters with the East Brewton Fire Department and Ridge Road Volunteer Fire Department battled a brush fire Thursday morning in the Springhill community.

Just before 10 a.m. both departments were dispatched to a location at Crenshaw Lane near Ball Lane just off Ridge Road.

The area covered in flames was surrounded by several homes which could have been in danger had the blaze not been brought under control.

Both departments worked to contain the brush fire and eliminate any potential danger to nearby homes.

No details on the cause on the cause of the blaze was immediately available.
