WSN baseball to begin Monday

The 2012 W.S. Neal Eagle baseball schedule shows 26 games this spring with 11 home games and 15 away.
The Eagles will open their season Monday, Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m. in the Excel Classic against the Excel Panthers.
Of the 15 away games, five will be in the Excel Classic. The Eagles will play two games Feb. 20 and will resume play in the Classic Friday, Feb. 24 and with two games Saturday, Feb. 25.
Along with the Excel Classic tournament, the Eagles will host the 2012 Escambia County tournament this year. Of the 10 home games for the Eagles, three will come in the tournament. Five of the Eagle games this year will be doubleheaders with four being area game doubleheaders and the other against Jeff Davis in Montgomery.
The tournament is scheduled to begin Thursday, March 1 and continue through Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3.
Last year the Eagles won their area championship but fell in the first round of the AHSAA state playoffs at home to eventual state champion UMS-Wright in a best of three series. W.S. Neal won the first game of the series before losing the next two to the Bulldogs of Mobile.
W.S. Neal will be in an area this year with Monroe County, Hillcrest-Evergreen, Jackson and Thomasville.
The Eagles are under head coach Coy Campbell and assistant coaches Robbie Grace, Howard Joyner and Daniel Hodge.
