Mearlean Cain Powell

Mrs. Mearlean Cain Powell, 75, of Ballard Street, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County, a retired seamstress with Judy Bond, and a faithful member of the East Brewton Church of God. She was preceded in death by her brother; Coy Lee Cain, her sisters; Lennie Mae Tompkins, Dottie Faye Blair and Shirley Ann Sessions.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gene Powell of East Brewton; two sons, Brandon (Michelle) Powell and Darrell (Meredith) Powell, both of East Brewton; two brothers, Roy (Renee) Cain of Brewton, and L.V. Cain of Castleberry; three sisters, Pearl (Olan) Hale of Brewton, Ruthie Moye of Monroeville, and Daisy Black of Lenox; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and church friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday Feb. 22, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the East Brewton Church of God.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. at the East Brewton Church of God with the Rev. Jackie Davis and the Rev. Chad Griggs officiating.  Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Appleton with Craver’s Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be, Tim Hodge, Heath Pittman, Hurston Barnes, Mike Farley, Josh Danley and Ashton Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Joyner and Donnie Pitts.
