Mrs. Helon Fay Nelson Batson, 70 of Foley,  passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 in a Foley hospital. She was a native of Brewton, a former resident of Birmingham, and was a current resident of Foley. She was a 1960 W. S. Neal graduate, graduated from Jefferson Davis Community College,  AUM, and Troy State University with a masters degree. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon R. Batson of Foley; one son, Scott (Jackie) Batson of Alpharetta, Ga.; a brother, Jimmy Ray (Ann) Nelson of Brewton; a sister, Henri Lynn (Warren) Dantzler of Brewton; a grandson, Conor Batson, a step-granddaughter, Jordan Benson; a special great-nephew, Ryan Brown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 24 from noon until 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral home with the Rev. David Shorner and the Rev. Richard Wash officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
