Four of the Brewton Local Area Swim Team Tigersharks have made the cut for the Southeastern Short Course Meet of Champions scheduled to be held in Knoxville,
this coming week beginning Thursday through Sunday.
Nolan Atkinson, Colby Morris, Cole Jernigan and Elizabeth Glass all qualified for the Meet of Champions in Tennessee.
“This is a huge meet that includes teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and part of Mississippi,” swim coach Angel Boyd said. “It is an extreme honor to be able to achieve a cut for this meet.”
Cole Jernigan, son of Lee and Felicia Jernigan, has earned eight cuts this season and will swim the maximum amount of events at the championship meet.
“Cole is a 9-year-old, who has excelled in every stroke this season,” Boyd said.
Nolan Atkinson, son of Rob and Lisa Atkinson, has earned two cuts for the meet and has done so as an 8-year-old competing in the 10-and-under division.
“Nolan is the youngest Tigershark to ever achieve two short course championship cuts,” Boyd said.
Elizabeth Glass, daughter of Dewayne and Brooke Glass, has earned a cut in the 200-freestyle.
“Elizabeth is the youngest female for the Tigersharks to make the Meet of Champions,” Boyd said.
Colby Morris, son of Brandee Morris, has earned a slot in the meet as an 11-year-old.
“As a 10-year-old Colby also swam in this meet last season, and is excited to be headed to the championships for a second year,” Boyd said.
Along with Boyd, the swim team is coached by assistant coach Brandee Morris.
