The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team stunned Gadsden twice Thursday in Brewton with two come-from-behind wins to improve their record to 5-10 this season.
JDCC defeated Gadsden 8-7 in game one and 5-4 in extra innings in game two to get the win.
In game one, JDCC trailed Gadsden 7-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before plating seven runs in the inning to get the win by one, 8-7. In game two, JDCC and Gadsden went to extra innings tied at 2-2 and JDCC rallied with three runs in the eight inning to win 5-4 after surrendering two runs in the top of the inning.
“We did a really good job today of fight until the end,” JDCC head coach Misti Nims said. “We have lost a lot of games by one or two runs in the last inning so to see them finally come through at the end was nice. The pitching staff did well today and I guess the biggest thing with our hitters was they actually started to shorten up swings and make some contact instead of trying to hit the ball to the fence. Hopefully we will keep going forward and make it.”
JDCC will be back in action Wednesday as they travel to Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. Game time is set for 4 and 6 p.m.
