JDCC baseball on five-game winning streak

Following a doubleheader sweep of Wallace-State Selma Saturday at home, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team improve their winning streak to five games and improved their overall record to 8-9.
JDCC defeated the Patriots of Selma 4-3 in game one and claimed a 4-2 win in game two.
JDCC will play their first conference games of the season Tuesday at Faulkner State. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
The Warhawks will return home Saturday to play Bishop State in a conference doubleheader beginning at noon.

JDCC 4, WSS 3
With the tying run on third and the go-ahead run on first, JDCC staved off a Selma rally in the top of the seventh of game one to get a 4-3 win.
JDCC led Selma 2-0 after the first inning and 4-0 after two innings, but Selma got three runs in the sixth to cut the lead to one run.
In the seventh, Selma benefited from a Warhawk error and walk but failed to score as the Warhawks held on for the win.
Andrew Tindell was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and Jordan Creel was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Brandon Ray was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Kyle Freeman was 1-for-2. Keaton Maher was 1-for-3 with a double in the win.
Michael Yarborough, Joey Hedden, Tyler Howell, and Trey Place all pitched in the win.
Yarborough earned the win going two innings and allowing one hit and struck out two.
Place earned the save going 1 1/3 innings allowing two hits and one walk. Hedden went one innings and allowed two hits and struck out one. Howell went 2 1/3 innings allowing three hits, three earned runs, walked and struck out one.

JDCC 4, WSS 2
In game two, JDCC picked up a 4-2 win after the game was called in the fifth inning due to darkness.
The Warhawks led 1-0 after the first innings and added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth while holding Selma to two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Jeremy Barnes and John Williams pitched in the win.
Barnes earned the win going three innings allowing two hits and struck out one. Williams earned the save going two innings and allowing three hits, two runs, one earned, and struck out three.
At the plate, Tindell was 3-for-3 and Creel was 1-for-3. Dillan Schaniel was 1-for-3 and Ray was 2-for-3 with a double. Corey Lane was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Stuart Todd was 1-for-2. Trae Walsingham was 1-for-3. Brandon Blackwelder had one RBI in the win.
