WSN baseball beats Excel 4-2 to improve to 7-3

After going 1-2 in the Escambia County Tournament, the W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team ended their two-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over Excel at home Tuesday.
The Eagles, now 7-3, scored all four runs in the third inning on three hits and one Panther error to lead 4-0 after three innings of play.
The Eagles would lead Excel 4-0 until the top of the sixth when the Panthers plated their two runs of the game to cut the lead to 4-2. Neither two teams would score again as the Eagles earned the win by two.
Damion Williams was 1-for-2 for the Eagles at the plate with a double and Brian Settle was 1-for-3. Logan Willamson and Hunter Mullins were both 1-for-3 with one RBI and Cam Blackman was 1-for-2 with a double.
On the mound for the Eagles, Jeremy Myers got the start and the win going 3 2/3 innings. Tyler Joyner pitched 2 1/3 innings with Blackman gong the final inning to get the save.
The trio allowed three hits, two earned runs, walked one and struck out seven in the win.
The Eagles were scheduled to play their first area game Thursday in Monroeville and will play host to Monroe County Friday in East Brewton in a doubleheader set to begin at 4 p.m.
