James Lendel Evans

Mr. James Lendel Evans, 86, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital. He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, a U.S. Army, Air Force and Merchant Marine veteran. He worked for St. Regis Paper Company for 32 years, and was of the Protestant faith. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Evans; a brother, Ed Taylor Evans; two sisters, Sue Robinson and Estelle Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie L. Evans of Brewton; three sons, Ray (Nancy) Evans of Flomaton, Ronnie (Kathy) Evans of Stockton, and Herbie (Sue) Evans of Brewton; two brothers, Earl Evans and Steve Evans, both of Brewton; two sisters, Bernice (Calvin) Howard of Brewton, and Polly Kirkus of Atmore; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Hammac officiating. Burial followed at Hanberry Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing. Please share your memories and condolences with the family at www.craversfh.com.
