After starting the area part of their schedule with a 16-4 win over Monroe County Friday in Monroeville, the W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team carried that over to a doubleheader sweep of the Tigers Friday night in East Brewton.
W.S. Neal took down the Tigers 11-1 in the first game of the doubleheader and won game two 10-0 to improve to 10-3 overall and start area play with a 2-0 record and own the head-to-head over Monroe County.
W.S. Neal Eagle head coach Coy Campbell said it was good to see his team starting to swing the bats,
“I thought our pitching threw well in the three-game series with Monroeville,” Campbell said. “They have been throwing well all year and just now, we are starting to swing the bats. Actually, it has been the best we have swung them all year. I would rather swing them now than earlier. I just hope it continues. We still have some work to do. We have Hillcrest in an area game next week and we don’t take anyone lightly. We will go there and move on, but a two-game sweep to start the area play that is a good start for anybody.”
W.S. Neal was set to play at Flomaton Monday before traveling to Hillcrest Thursday for another game. The Eagles will host the Jaguars Friday night in East Brewton in a doubleheader. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
