Seven-run inning hurts WSN softball at Thomasville Tuesday

The Thomasville Lady Tiger softball team scored seven runs in the fourth inning to down the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 8-7 Tuesday in Thomasville.
W.S. Neal led Thomasville 2-0 after one inning before the Lady Tigers plated one run to cut the lead to 2-1 after two innings.
In the fourth, Thomasville exploded for seven runs to take an 8-2 lead over the Lady Eagles of East Brewton. W.S. Neal would put together a late rally with two runs in the fifth inning, one in the sixth and two more in the seventh to cut the lead to one, but Thomasville was able to hang on for the win.
With the loss, the Lady Eagles dropped to 7-7 overall and to 0-2 in area play.
In the loss, Kaitlin Hadaway pitched six innings for the Lady Eagles and took the loss. Hadaway struck out five, hit one, allowed seven hits, and three earned runs.
At the plate, Paige Grantham was 1-for-3 with a walk and one run scored and Anna Nelson was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Kaeli Brown was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Kena Ellison had two walks and two runs scored. Lauren Boatwright had three walks and three runs scored in the loss.
W.S. Neal is scheduled to take on Hillcrest-Evergreen Friday at home in an area game. The varsity will begin the day with a 4 p.m. start followed by the JV/middle school game at 5:30 p.m.
