Two East Brewton woman were arrested Friday and are facing drug charges following a traffic stop.
Rhonda Mae Joyner, 46, of Williamson Street and Alice Grantham, 51, of Roadway Street were both arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance according to East Brewton Police Sgt. Clemente Brooks.
“We made a traffic stop on the vehicle on Williamson Street just before 2 p.m. Friday,” Brooks Said. “When one of the women stepped out of the car in order for us to search, she dropped something on the ground. We recovered what she dropped and identified it as Lortab.”
Brooks said the female may have been attempting to hide or otherwise dispose of the pills by dropping them on the ground.
“After we completed our search, we had found 33 Lortab 10s in their possession,” Brooks said.
The women were placed under arrest at the scene and were taken into custody without incident. They were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where they were booked on the charges against them.
No details on bond were available as of press time Friday.
