WSNMS baseball goes 1-1 in Thomasville tourney

Playing in their first game since March 6, the W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team went 1-1 in the Thomasville tournament to see their record go to 2-2-1.
The Eagles defeated Clarke County 5-1 in their first game but fell to Thomasville 10-0 in their second game.
In game one against Clarke County, W.S. Neal scored two runs in the first innings and three in the fifth while holding Clarke County to one run in the third inning.
Lane Chavers earned the win on the mound going five innings and allowing one run on two hits, walked one and struck out seven.
At the plate, Malcolm Hawthorne was 1-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases and Dakota Graves was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one stolen base.
Dalton Shell was 1-for-3 along with Bryce Booker who had two stolen bases. Chavers was 1-for-1 and Nick Glass was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
In game two against Thomasville, the Eagles were shutout while the Tigers scored two runs in the first, one in the second, two in the third inning and five in the fourth.
Hawthorne was 1-for-1 with a triple and one stolen base.
Glass took the loss on the mound going two innings. Hunter Colley and TyShawn Davis both went one inning each in the loss.
W.S. Neal is scheduled to host Excel at home Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a doubleheader and will play at home to Flomaton Thursday also in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
