Members of the Escambia County Board of Education are expected to make an announcement concerning the name of the superintendent of education for the county school system Thursday afternoon.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 4:30 p.m. at W.S. Neal High School auditorium.

Randall Little and Zickeyous Byrd are being considered for the position and the board is expected to make a decision during Thursday’s meeting.

Little has served as interim superintendent since the retirement of William Hines last December. Little has spent the last several years in the position of assistant superintendent and transportation director for the county.

Byrd is currently serving as principal at Escambia County High School in Atmore and had previously served as principal at Escambia County Middle School.

Thursday’s meeting of the board is open to the public.
