WSNMS baseball ties with Flomaton for third time this season

Already with one tie this season against Flomaton, the W.S. Neal Middle School Eagle baseball team picked up two more Thursday at home against the Hurricanes.
The teams tied a doubleheader in East Brewton 6-6 and 5-5. With the ties, W.S. Neal’s record is now 3-3-3 with all three ties coming against Flomaton.
In game one Thursday, Flomaton led W.S. Neal 6-4 heading into the final inning before the Eagles scored two to tie the game at 6-6.
At the plate, Nick Glass was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs. Lane Chavers was 1-for-3 along with Bryce Booker. Chavers had one RBI and Booker had two.
Malcolm Hawthorne had three stolen bases.
On the mound, Glass and Hunter Colley pitched a combined five innings and allowed three hits, four strikeouts, and walked seven.
In game two, W.S. Neal trailed 5-4 heading to the bottom of the fifth but plated one in the final inning to get the tie.
Hawthorne was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Dakota Graves was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and two stolen bases. Glass was 1-for-2 and Sam Frazier and Booker had one hit each with Frazier having a triple and Booker having one RBI.
On the mound, Chavers went five innings and allowed five runs, three hits, struck out 10 and walked none.
W.S. Neal is scheduled to play at home against Jay Thursday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.

Tuesday against Excel:
The W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team split their first home games of the season Tuesday against Excel. The Eagles lost to the Panthers of Excel 11-6 in game one before taking game two 11-0.
The split improved the Eagles to 3-3-1 overall this season.
In the first game against Excel, W.S. Neal walked nine batters in the first innings and gave up eight runs to take the loss by five, 11-6.
Excel scored eight runs in the first inning, two in the second and one in the third while the Eagles plated two in the first inning and one each in the second, third and fourth innings.
At the plate for the Eagles in game one, Malcolm Hawthorne had a triple while Dakota Graves and Bryce Booker had a single each.
Nick Glass took the loss on the mound for the Eagles.
In game two, W.S. Neal shutout the Panthers while using a seven-run second inning to help get the big win.
W.S. Neal led 1-0 after the first inning and 8-0 after two innings of play. W.S. Neal added two in the third inning and one in the fourth to get the win, 11-0.
Hawthorne had a double and two RBIs in the win at the plate and Graves had a single and two RBIs.
Glass connected for a double in the second inning and added a single in the fourth while having three RBIs. Lane Chavers had a triple and Booker had a single.
TyShawn Davis had two singles and Sam Frazier had a single. Hunter Colley had a single and one RBI in the win.
Chavers earned the win on the mound going four innings and allowing no runs, three hits, walked three and struck out eight.

Thomasville tournament:
Playing in their first game since March 6, the W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team went 1-1 in the Thomasville tournament to see their record go to 2-2-1.
The Eagles defeated Clarke County 5-1 in their first game but fell to Thomasville 10-0 in their second game.
In game one against Clarke County, W.S. Neal scored two runs in the first innings and three in the fifth while holding Clarke County to one run in the third inning.
Lane Chavers earned the win on the mound going five innings and allowing one run on two hits, walked one and struck out seven.
At the plate, Malcolm Hawthorne was 1-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases and Dakota Graves was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one stolen base.
Dalton Shell was 1-for-3 along with Bryce Booker who had two stolen bases. Chavers was 1-for-1 and Nick Glass was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
In game two against Thomasville, the Eagles were shutout while the Tigers scored two runs in the first, one in the second, two in the third inning and five in the fourth.
Hawthorne was 1-for-1 with a triple and one stolen base.
Glass took the loss on the mound going two innings. Hunter Colley and TyShawn Davis both went one inning each in the loss.
