EB Cal Ripken plans opening day for Saturday

The East Brewton Cal Ripken League will have their 14th annual jamboree Saturday, March 31 at R.T. Johnson Park on Williamson Street in East Brewton.
East Brewton League president Joey Shell said opening day festivities would start around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
“We will have all our opening day activities at 8:30 a.m. with the first pitch being thrown during that time and games starting at 9,” Shell said. “We will recognize our 11-12 softball girls were the South Alabama champions last year and we will unveil a banner for them during that time as well.”
T-ball, 7- and 8-year-old, softball, 9- and 10-year-old teams, and 11- and 12-year-old teams will take part in the Jamboree with a total of 17 teams playing this spring.
In the T-ball division, four teams will play including the Iron Pigs, Bandits, Rock Hounds, and Mud Cats.
In the 7-and 8-year-old division, four teams will play including the Hot Rods, Thunders, Scrappers and Bulls. Four teams will play in the softball league including the Orioles, Dodgers, Athletics and the Phillies. In the Jamboree Saturday, Flomaton will also play in this division.
In the 9-and 10 division, teams include the Pirates, Tigers, and Cardinals and in the 11-and 12 division, teams include the Yankees and Rangers.
Just for Saturday, admission will be charged. Adults will be charged $4 while students in Kindergarten through 12th grade will be charged $2. Pre-school and under will be free. Wristbands will be purchased at the gate and must be work to be readmitted throughout the day.
No smoking or tobacco products will be allowed in the park along with no pets, skateboards or bikes along with no outside food or coolers.
The schedule for Saturday on field one will be the Yankees and Rangers at 9 a.m., Pirates and Tigers at 10:30 a.m., Cardinals and Tigers at 12:30 p.m., Rangers and Yankees at 2 p.m. and Cardinals and Pirates at 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. on field one.
On field two, the Orioles and Flomaton will play at 9:15 a.m. and the Dodgers and Athletics at 10:30 a.m. Following an 11:45 a.m. lunch break, the Athletics and Phillies will play at 12:15 p.m. followed by the Scrappers and Bulls game at 1:30 p.m. and the Phillies and Dodgers at 2:45 p.m.
On the Babe Ruth field, the Bulls and Hot Rods will play at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Bandits and Rock Hounds at 10:45 a.m., Scrappers and Thunder at 11:30 a.m., Mud Cats and Iron Pigs at 12:45 p.m., Hot Rods and Thunder at 1:30 p.m., Rock Hounds and Mud Cats at 2:45 p.m. and the Iron Pigs and Bandits at 3:30 p.m.
Pictures will also be taken starting at 8 a.m. until noon in 15-minute intervals.
Starting at 8 a.m. will be the Yankees followed by the Rangers, Orioles, Bulls, Hot Rods, Pirates, Tigers, Dodgers, Athletics, Bandits, Rock Hounds, Scrappers, Thunder, Cardinals, Phillies and Mud Cats at 11:45 a.m. and Iron Pigs at noon.
