Brewton girls softball to have opening day Saturday

The Brewton Area YMCA Babe Ruth girls softball will have their opening day Saturday at the Brewton YMCA Sports Park.
This year the league has a total of six teams with three teams in the 10U league and three teams in the 12U league.
In the 10U league this season will be the Riptide, Blasters, and Cherry Bombs while the 12U teams will be the Blazin’ Babes, Heat, and Thunder.
For opening day Saturday, all teams are to be checked in and lined up by the third base dugout/cage on Field C by 8:55 a.m.
Following a welcome at 9 a.m. the 10U teams will be introduced at 9:03 and the 12U teams at 9:08 a.m.
At 9:13 a.m., the state championship all star team from last season will be introduced and a banner will be unveiled to honor the team. Opening prayer will be at 9:18 a.m. and the National Anthem will be heard at 9:20 a.m.
Following a ceremonial first pitch at 9:22 a.m., games will begin at 9:30 a.m.
At 9:30 a.m. on Field A, the Riptide and Blasters will meet while the Blazin’ Babes and Heat will meet on Field D.
At 10:25 a.m. on Field A, the Blasters and Cherry Bombs will play while the Heat and Thunder will play on Field D.
At 11:20 a.m., the Cherry Bombs and Riptide will tangle on Field A while the Thunder and Blazin’ Babes will meet on Field D.
Teams listed first on the schedule will be the home team. Games will be three innings or 45-minute time limit with no inning to begin after 40 minutes.
