TRM softball now 3-0 in area play

After suffering their first loss last week to Montgomery Catholic, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team got back on the winning side of things Tuesday in a home area game against Clarke County.
The Lady Tigers of Brewton took down the Bulldogs 12-2 to improve their overall record to 12-1 and remain undefeated in area play as they pushed their record to 3-0.
In the game Tuesday, T.R. Miller scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead and added one run in the third and fourth innings. In the fifth inning, T.R. Miller plated four more runs and three in the sixth while holding Clarke County to one run in the third and fourth innings.
At the plate for the Lady Tigers, Hannah Weaver had a double and Kristen Booker added a triple.
Takeysia McFugerson had two RBIs along with Booker while Jessica Allan, Lauren Ward and Weaver also had RBIs.
Laurel Billy earned the win on the mound for T.R. Miller as she allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out two.
T.R. Miller was scheduled to take on Excel at home Thursday in an area game and will play J.U. Blacksher Tuesday at home. Game time will be at 4 p.m. with the varsity game and 5:30 p.m. with the JV game.
