TRM track sweeps again

In a Monday home track meet for the T.R. Miller Tigers, both the Tiger boy and girls won first place.
The boys took first over three other teams with a total of 111 points. Monroe County placed second with 51 points and J.U. Blacksher placed third with 49 points. W.S. Neal, in their first track meet this spring, placed fourth with 46 points.
On the girls side, T.R. Miller took first place with 137 points and Blacksher placed second with 67 points. W.S. Neal finished in third place with 15 points and Monroe County placed fourth with six points.
The meet saw 17 events and the T.R. Miller boys placed first in eight events while W.S. Neal placed first in the 200-meter race, the long and triple jump.
For the girls, T.R. Miller placed first in 15 out of 17 events.

Boys:
The T.R. Miller Tigers placed first in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 9:51 just ahead of W.S. Neal’s 10:02. In the 100-meter hurdles, Ivory Miller took first with a time of 17.58. Rob Stokes took first place in the 1600-meter run for the Tigers with a time of 5:08 and Miller also placed first for T.R. Miller in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.97.
Stokes once again claimed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15. W.S. Neal’s Josiah Nettles placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.95.
In the 4×400-meter race, T.R. Miller’s A team edged out W.S. Neal with a time of 3:57.21 to 4:13.04. Gary Likely placed first for W.S. Neal in the long jump and triple jump with jumps of 17-10 and 39-5 respectably.
Nick Adams won the javelin and pole vault for T.R. Miller. Adams won the javelin even with a throw of 151-3 and the pole vault with a vault of 10-6.

Girls:
The Lady Tigers cruised their win to a win Monday at home.
The 4×800 relay team took first with a time of 12:21 and the 4×400 team took first with a time of 4:46.
Amber Nelson won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.45 and LaTeysia Montgomery won the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.03.
Karisa Nelson paced the Lady Tigers in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:15 and the 4×100 relay team won with a time of 53.45.
Walker took first in the 400-meter dash for T.R. Miller with a time of 1:08.8 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.23 while Karisa Nelson won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:47.
In the shot put, O’Nesha Hall gave the Lady Tigers a first place finish with a shot of 29-8 and Montgomery won the high jump with a jump of 15-4. Montgomery also took the long jump with a jump of 15-feet while Leah Brundidge won the javelin with a throw of 101-3.
Amber Terry claimed first in the pole vault with a vault of 7-feet and Amber Nelson won the triple jump even with a jump of 33-8.
