WSNMS baseball sweeps Excel

In a rescheduled game from earlier this season, the W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team swept Excel Monday in Excel.
The Eagles won game one 2-0 and game two 6-5 to improve their record to 5-3-3 this season. W.S. Neal was scheduled to end their season Thursday at home against Jay.
In game one, W.S. Neal scored one run each in the first and second innings and held the Panthers scoreless to get the win by two.
Lane Chavers, Dalton Shell and Hunter Colley were all 1-for-2 with Coley having one RBI and Chavers having one stolen base.
Nick Glass earned the win on the mound for the Eagles as we went four innings and allowed one hit, walked three and struck out two.
Chavers went the final inning to get the save. He allowed no runs, no hits, walked and struck out one.
In game two, the Eagles edged out the Panthers 6-5.
W.S. Neal led 3-0 after the first innings and 4-0 after the top of the second before the Panthers cut the lead to 4-2 with two runs in the bottom of the second.
W.S. Neal would take a 6-2 lead after three innings but the Panthers clawed back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-4. Excel would get one more run in the fifth inning but W.S. Neal was able to hang on for the win.
Malcolm Hawthorne was 1-for-3 along with Glass in the win with both having two RBIs. Hawthorne had three stolen bases.
Chavers earned the win on the mound as he allowed five runs, six hits, walked two and struck out three.
Dakota Graves scored two runs in the win and Sam Frazier, TyShawn Davis and Chavers all scored one run each.
