TRM softball falls to ranked Excel Thursday, middle school wins 3-2

Facing off against the No. 4-ranked Excel Panthers Thursday at home, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team was shutout 8-0 in an area game.
With the loss, T.R. Miller fell to 12-2 overall and to 3-1 in area play.
In JV action, T.R. Miller won 3-2 to improve their record to 8-4.
T.R. Miller is scheduled to be back in action Tuesday at home against J.U. Blacksher.

Excel 8, TRM 0
In a rare shutout against T.R. Miller Thursday at home, the Lady Tigers of Brewton took an 8-0 loss at the hands of Excel.
Excel scored one run in the first and fourth innings and added four more in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead over T.R. Miller after five innings. Excel added two more in the top of the seventh to get the shutout win. T.R. Miller made three errors in the loss.
Laurel Billy pitched seven innings for T.R. Miller to take the loss. Billy allowed six earned runs, eight hits and one walk while striking out five.
At the plate for the Lady Tigers, Audrey Hamric was 2-for-3 and Leah Brundidge was 1-for-2 with a double. Taylor Guthrie was 1-for-3 along with Lauren Wards. Kristen Booker was 2-for-3.
T.R. Miller’s lineup racked up 11 strikeouts in the loss.

TRM JV 3, Excel 2
After four lead changes in Friday’s game at Brewton, T.R. Miller finally pulled out a 3-2 win over Excel.
T.R. Miller led Excel 1-0 but saw Excel score one in the second and one in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.
T.R. Miller rallied with two in the bottom of the fifth to get the win by one.
Krystal Bell racked up three RBIs on two hits for T.R. Miller. Bell tripled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning. Leslie Holmes was 1-for-3 and Kassie King was 1-for-2.
Lizzie Politte and Taylor Austin pitched in the win for T.R. Miller.
Pollitte allowed one run over three innings. Pollitte struck out one, walked one and surrendered three hits. Austin went two innings and allowed one run, none earned, and walked two.
