Brewton 12U girls softball teams all go 1-1 Saturday on opening day

The Brewton Area YMCA Babe Ruth girls softball league had their opening day festivities Saturday at the YMCA Sports Park.
The league this year has six overall teams in two leagues. In the 10U league, teams are the Riptide, Blasters and Cherry Bombs while the 12U team is the Blazin’ Babes, Heat and Thunder.
Teams played two games Saturday and in the 12U league and all three teams went 1-1. In game one, the Blazin’ Babes defeated the Heat 11-2 and in game two, the Heat defeated the Thunder 7-5. In game three, the Thunder beat the Blazin’ Babes 8-7.
Game stats and scores from the 10U games were not available as of press time.

Game one: Blazin’ Babes 11, Heat 2
In game one, the Blazin’ Babes’ Mallori Floyd pitched a no hitter in an 11-2 win over the Heat.
Floyd struck out four and walked four while allowing no hits in the win for the Blazin’ Babes.
Myra Reiss was the pitcher of record for the Heat and allowed seven hits, five walks and struck out three.
At the plate of the Blazin’ Babes, Tess Thomas was 2-for-2 with one run scored, Floyd was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Morgan Longmire was 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Rudy Watson was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and Gabbi Soloman was 1-for-2 with one run scored.
For the Heat, Hannah Lisenby and Jakira Spears both scored one run each.

Game two: Heat 7, Thunder 5
In the second game, after falling in their first game, the Heat defeated the Thunder 7-5 to finish 1-1.
Anna Grace White earned the win on the mound for the Heat allowing two hits, four walks and struck out four. Alexis King went one inning and allowed no hits and struck out two.
Steely Ruzic took the loss on the mound for the Thunder as she allowed six hits and six walks and struck out three.
At the plate for the Heat in the win, Hannah Lisenby and White were 2-for-2 with two runs scored. White had two RBIs.
Reiss was 1-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI and King was 1-for-1 with one RBI and one run scored.
Spears was 1-for-2 with one run scored.
For the Thunder, Mary Madison Brown was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Ruzic was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI. Haley Thompson was 1-for-2 with one run scored.

Game three: Thunder 8, Blazin’ Babes 7
In the final game of the day in the 12U league, the Thunder took down the Blazin’ Babes 8-7.
Ruzic earned the win on the mound as she walked three and struck out three while allowing one hit.
Brown went one inning and allowed five walks, struck out none and allowed two hits.
Longmire took the loss on the mound for the Blazin’ Babes as she walked two and allowed one hit.
Anna Kate Brittain also pitched and walked five, allowed two hits and struck out two. Rudy Watson followed Brittain and walked three, hit one and allowed one hit.
At the plate for the Thunder, Ruzic was 1-for-2 with one run scored and three RBIs and Hayley Daniel was 1-for-1.
Ruzic, Daniel, Jashira Dees, Leann Rikard, Kennedy Harp and Amiya Jenkins all scored one run each.
For the Blazin’ Babes, Soloman was 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI and Adrian Howell was 1-for-2. Thomas was 1-for-1 with one run scored and Longmire, Floyd, Watson, and Malaysia Campbell all scored one run each.
