TRM varsity softball beats JUB while JV falls

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team rallied from an early 4-0 deficit Tuesday at home against J.U. Blacksher to get a 12-7 win. T.R. Miller improved to 13-2 with the win.
J. U. Blacksher jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning but the Lady Tigers rallied with two runs in the bottom of the inning and went up for good in the third, scoring seven runs to take a 9-4 lead.
J.U. Blacksher would cut the lead to 9-5 in the top of the fifth before the Lady Tigers came back with three runs of their own to take a 12-5 lead.
J.U. Blacksher added two runs in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 12-7, but the Lady Tigers were able to hang on for the win by five.
Leah Brundidge led the Lady Tigers with a 2-for-4 day at the plate with one RBI and two doubles. Audrey Hamric also helped lead in the win as she was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Taylor Guthrie was 1-for-4 and Kelsey Thompson was 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Lauren Wards, Kristen Booker and Moriah Brundidge all had one RBI each in the win for the Lady Tigers.
Guthrie earned the win on the mound for T.R. Miller going six innings and allowing six hits, seven runs, two earned, walked two and struck out three.
Laurel Billy went the final inning and allowed no runs.

JUB 8, TRM JV 5
It is never a good thing to have more errors than runs scored, but that is just what the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger JV softball team did in an 8-5 loss to J.U. Blacksher Tuesday at home.
T.R. Miller committed eight errors in the loss while scoring only five runs and having five hits. With the loss, the Lady Tigers fell to 8-5.
J.U. Blacksher led T.R. Miller 3-0 after the first inning before the Lady Tigers cut the lead to 3-2 after two innings.
Blacksher would get four runs in the third inning and one in the fourth while holding T.R. Miller to three runs in the bottom of the third inning to get the win by three.
Krystal Bell had a sound game at the plate for T.R. Miller. Bell went 2-for-2 and drove in one. Bell singled in the second inning and doubled in the third inning and had one RBI.
Madalyn Weaver was 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI and Leslie Holmes was 1-for-2. Hannah Weaver had one RBI for T.R. Miller while Molly Jackson was 1-for-1.
On the mound, Taylor Austin took the loss as she worked two innings and allowed four hits, five earned runs, walked two and struck out four.
Lizzy Pollitte went two innings and allowed three hits, three runs, one earned, walked three and struck out none.
The varsity Lady Tigers were scheduled to take on W.S. Neal at home Wednesday while the two JV teams are scheduled to play Thursday in Brewton at 4 p.m.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal’s varsity teams will begin the Escambia County tournament Friday at JDCC at 4 p.m.
