TRM baseball takes down No. 1 Bayside Academy Thursday

Facing off against the No. 1-ranked team in class 3A Thursday at home, the No. 7 T.R. Miller Tigers shutout the Bayside Academy Admirals 5-0.
The win for the Tigers improved their record to 14-5 overall and to 5-0 in area play.
T.R. Miller’s Kevin Davis earned the win on the mound for the Tigers in his typical form as he went the complete game and allowed no runs, three hits, walked and hit one and struck out 13.
But there was one thing different in the game for the Tigers. Usually, with Davis on the mound, the Tigers come up short in the hits and run category, but Thursday was different.
The Tigers scored one run each in the first and second innings and then plated three in the fourth to get the win while pounding out 11 hits.
Every Tiger in the lineup Thursday had a least one hit.
“We finally swung the bats,” T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Jim Hart said. “That is the difference. That is what we needed. We need to swing it for (Kevin Davis) when he is out there (on the mound). We need to help him out and get him some runs. It also helps us get a little momentum. It worked. We worked our butts off Wednesday trying to get some thing straightened out. I hope it helped.”
Collin Graves was 2-for-4 for the Tigers with one RBI and Cody Smith was 2-for-3.
Caleb Dickey was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Caleb McAnally was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Conner Denton was 1-for-3 and Davis was 1-for-2. Jacob Fillmore was 1-for-3 along with Ryan Hunt and Kyle Davis was 1-for-3 with a double.
T.R. Miller made one error in the game and left four runners on base while Bayside made no errors and left six on base including the bases loaded in the third inning.
T.R. Miller and Bayside were scheduled to finish their area series Friday with two games in Daphne.
