Cal Ripken softball: Brewton Heat edge out Thunder

Despite allowing 10 runs in the second inning to the Thunder Monday night, the Brewton Heat edged out the Thunder 13-12 to stay undefeated.
The Heat led the Thunder 6-2 after the first inning before allowing 10 runs in the second inning to fall behind 12-6. The Heat would then scored two in the bottom of the second and five in the third inning while holding the Thunder scoreless the remainder of the game to get the win by one.
Myra Reiss was the winning pitcher for the Heat as she went two innings and allowed one hit, hit one batter, walked four and struck out five.
Anna Grace White pitched two innings and allowed two hits, walked nine and struck out three.
Steely Ruzic took the loss on the mound for the Thunder going three innings, struck out four and surrendered five hits.
At the plate for the Heat, Hannah Lisenby went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI while White went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Alexis King was 1-for-1 with two walks, three runs and one RBI.
Reiss, Jakyra Spears, Desiree Lambert, Brionna Dees and Jessica Southworth all scored a run.
For the Thunder, Ruzic was 1-for-3 with three runs scored while Mary Madison Brown was 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Hayley Thompson was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Halie Daniel, Amaiya Johnson, Kennedy Harp, Leanne Rikard, Jashira Dees and Asia Campbell all scored runs.
With the win, the Heat improved to 2-0 while the Thunder fell to 0-1.
