Excel blanks TRM softball as hitting woes continue

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team lost their fifth game out of their last six Thursday on the road at No. 3 Excel as they dropped a 10-0 contest to the Lady Panthers.
T.R. Miller fell to 14-7 overall and to 3-2 in area play with the loss. Earlier in the season, T.R. Miller lost 8-0 to Excel.
In the game Thursday, T.R. Miller and Excel were scoreless through the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, Excel scored two runs off of a walk, a hit batter and one hit to take a 2-0 lead.
After a scoreless fifth inning for both teams, the wheels fell of in the bottom of the sixth inning when Excel scored off of three hits, two errors, four walks and a hit batter to get the 10-0 win.
Laurel Billy took the loss on the mound for the Lady Tigers.
T.R. Miller’s hitting woes continued in their recent slide as they were held to only three hits in the loss. Leah Brundidge, Kelsey Thompson and Takeysia McFugerson all had hits.
JV stats were not known as of press time.
The Lady Tigers were scheduled to play in the Greenville Tournament Saturday and will play at Pleasant Home Tuesday and at Clarke County Thursday.
