JDCC baseball takes conference series win at Dothan

In their final conference series of the year Thursday and Saturday on the road at Wallace State Dothan, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team took the series 2-1.
In the first game Thursday, JDCC lost in extra innings 12-11 but swept the two games Saturday winning game one 11-4 and game two 10-8.
In the three-game series, JDCC pounded out 13 doubles and had two homeruns.
The Warhawks improved to 26-27 overall and finished 12-18 in conference play. JDCC is set to end their 2012 season Friday with a road game against Shelton State in Montgomery at 1 p.m. The game will be a nine-inning game.

WSD 12, JDCC 11 (10 innings)
In game one of the three-game series, JDCC rallied from an 11-7 deficit in the seventh inning to force extra innings before falling in the 10th inning.
With the game tied at 7-7 after five innings, Dothan scored four runs in the sixth to take an 11-7 lead before JDCC scored four of their own in the seventh to tie the game.
The game would stay tied through nine innings before Dothan plated one in the bottom of the 10th to get the win.
At the plate for JDCC, Dillan Schaniel and Andrew Tindell had doubles while Kyle Freeman had a homerun.
Schaniel was 2-for-5 with one RBI and Tindell was 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Freeman was 1-for-4 with five RBIs in the loss.
On the mound, Tyler Howell took the loss going four innings and allowing two hits, one unearned run, walked none and struck out five.

JDCC 11, WSD 4
In game two, JDCC cranked out seven doubles and a homerun in a seven-run win Saturday.
JDCC trailed 3-2 after the first inning before outscoring Dothan 9-1 in the remaining innings to get the win.
Nathan Edwards was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs while Schaniel was 2-for-5 with two doubles.
Mark Humphreys was 3-for-4 with a double while Brandon Ray was 4-for-4 with a double. Tindell was 4-for-5 with a double and a homerun and three RBIs. Dustin Bickmeyer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the win.
On the mound, Michael Yarborough earned the win going six innings and allowing two hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out five.

JDCC 10, WSD 8
In the rubber-match game of the series, the Warhawks came away with a 10-8 win to take the series win in the conference finale.
With the game tied at 8-all after eight innings, JDCC plated two in the top of the ninth to get the win by two.
Edwards was 1-for-5 with a double while Keaton Maher was 1-for-3 with a double. Trae Walsingham was 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI while Tindell was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Stuart Todd had four RBIs in the win was he was 3-for-5 at the plate.
On the mound, Joey Hedden earned the win going 4 1/3 innings and allowing six hits, two runs, one earned, walked and struck out none.
