TRM and WSN track teams compete at sectionals

Both the W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller boys and girls track teams participated in their sectional meets Friday and Saturday at Montgomery Academy with both schools having athletes qualify for the state meets this weekend.
The top six athletes from each event go on to state.
T.R. Miller’s girls placed second out of seven teams at sectionals as they finished with 155 points to Bayside Academy’s 199.
The Tiger boys finished second out of nine teams scoring 109 points to Greensboro’s 167.
W.S. Neal’s girls placed ninth out of 10 teams with eight points while the boys placed eighth out of 10 teams with 25 total points.
The class 3A state track meet for T.R. Miller will be held at Selma’s Memorial Stadium Friday and Saturday while the class 4A meet for W.S. Neal will be held in Gulf Shores Friday and Saturday.

TRM girls:
For the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers, Majestie Walker placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.85. Karisa Nelson placed seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:36.10 and placed second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:24.49. Allie Nelson placed fifth in the event with a time of 5:43.92.
In the 3200-meter event, Karisa Nelson placed third while Allie Nelson placed fourth and Breann Huff placed eighth. Karisa had a time of 12:18.87 while Allie’s time was 12:52.92. Huff’s time was 14:55.20.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Taylor Guthrie placed second just ahead of Amber Nelson and Morgan Rowell. Guthrie’s time was 17.00 while Nelson finished in 17.26 and Rowell finished in 18.72.
In the 300-meter hurdles Guthrie placed second again ahead of Nelson and Rowell. Guthrie’s time was 49.07 while Nelson had a time of 53.00 and Rowell had a time of 55.17.
T.R. Miller’s 4×100-relay team placed third with a time of 53.47 while the 4×400 team also placed third with a time of 4:37.54. The 4×800 team placed second with a time of 11:00.97.
In the pole vault, Amber Terry placed fourth with a vault of 7-6 while Guthrie took second in the long jump event with a jump of 15-6 ½. Lateysia Montgomery placed third and Amber Nelson placed fifth.
In the triple jump, Amber Nelson placed second with a jump of 34-2 ½ followed by Leah Brundidge in sixth and Raven Bryant in ninth.
In the shot put, Kelsey Thompson placed third with a throw of 27 ½ followed by Brundidge in fifth and O’Nesha Hall in eighth.
In the discus, Lauren Bradley placed third with a throw of 86-10 ½ followed by Rowell in seventh and Terry in 12th.
Brundidge took the javelin even with a throw of 120-8.

TRM boys:
For the T.R. Miller boys, David Barragan placed 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.33 while Alex Robinson placed 16th.
In the 800-meter run, Rob Stokes placed ninth with a time of 2:12.45 and Josh Gunter placed 15th.
Stokes placed third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:43.63 and took fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:52.33.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Kameron Winn placed second with a time of 17.00 and also placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.69.
The 4×100 relay team placed second and the 4×400 team placed third. The 4×800 team placed sixth for the Tigers.
In the high jump, Mark Bryant placed first with a jump of 6-2 while Jerric Woods placed fourth. In the pole vault, Nick Adams placed third with a vault of 10-6.
In the long jump event, Bryant took first place with a jump of 21-11 while Jerric Woods took sixth.
In the triple jump, Winn placed fourth and Ahamad Taylor took fifth with jumps of 39-4 and 39-1 respectively.
In the shot put, Zach Whitworth placed third with a throw of 41-5 ¼. In the discus, Logan Ingram took eighth while Adams took third in the javelin with a throw of 150-2 and William Whittle placed fifth with a throw of 145-4.

WSN girls:
For W.S. Neal’s Lady Eagles, Cheyenne Jackson placed 14th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:22.54.
W.S. Neal’s 4×100 relay team placed sixth with a time of 54.34 and the 4×400 team took seventh with a time of 5:39.40.
In the shot put event, Jasmine Crook placed sixth with a throw of 26-9 ¾. In the javelin, Breanna Woodcock placed ninth with a throw of 47-01.

WSN boys:
In the 400-meter event for the W.S. Neal boys, Chase Kaylor came in 13th place with a time of 55.39 while in the 800-meter event Jonmark Regehr placed seventh with a time of 2:16.36 and Thomas McCall placed eighth with a time of 2:17.30.
In the 4×100 relay, W.S. Neal took sixth while the 4×400 team took ninth and the 4×800 team took fourth.
In the high jump, Jacob Southwell placed fifth with a time of 5-4.
In the shot put, Montrel Banks placed seventh with a throw of 40-2 ¾. In the discus, Banks placed fifth with a throw of 106-7 ¾ and Southwell placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 132-11.
