Pitching proves dominant in Thursday EBCR baseball and softball games

In East Brewton Cal Ripken’s Thursday night baseball games, the Pirates and Indians came away with wins while the Brewton Indians and the East Brewton Tigers and Rangers suffered defeats.
In softball action Thursday, the Dodgers took down the Athletics 19-13 in a high scoring affair.
In baseball games, the Pirates defeated the Brewton Indians 8-3 while Flomaton took down the Tigers 9-2 and the Yankees defeated the Rangers 5-3.

Pirates 8, Brewton Indians 3
Jennings Hobbs and Issac Smith pitched a no hitter Thursday in an 8-3 win over the Brewton Indians.
Hobbs and Smith allowed three runs, 10 walks and struck out nine. For the Indians of Brewton, Landon Simms and McGowin Bethea pitched in the loss and allowed five hits, eight runs, 10 walks and struck out nine.
At the plate for the Pirates in the win, Hobbs, Bradley Lowery, Smith and Paxton Scurlock all had singles while Hobbs added an inside-the-park homerun in the win.

Flomaton 9, Tigers 2
In a 10-and-under game Thursday, Flomaton earned a seven-run win over the Tigers 9-2.
Alex Cash and Dalton Kent teamed up for the win on the mound for Flomaton as they allowed three hits, three runs, walked two and struck out seven.
For the Tigers, Turk Morton and Dylan Ingram pitched and allowed five hits, nine runs, walked four and struck out seven.
At the plate for Flomaton, Cash had a single, Nick Turner had a triple, Skylar Busbee had a double, and Jackson Steele and Dalton Kent had a single each.
For the Tigers, Jordan Crane had a double while Jacob Bondurant and Chase Hammac had two singles.

Yankees 5, Rangers 3
Austin Majors pitched a one-hitter for the Yankees Thursday as they edged out the Rangers 5-3.
Majors allowed two runs, walked one and struck out 14 in the win. For the Rangers, Matt Hutchins and Jacobey Hawthorne pitched and allowed six hits, five runs, two walks and struck out six.
At the plate for the Yankees, Connor Huskey had two singles, Kristian Taylor and Brandon Moye had one each along with Tucker Davenport while Hunter Revel had a triple.
For the Rangers, P.J. Lovelace had the lone hit.

Dodgers 19, Athletics 13
In softball action Thursday in East Brewton, the Dodgers claimed a 19-13 win over the Athletics despite having only one hit.
Caitlyn Chavers and Madison White pitched in the win for the Dodgers and allowed six hits, 13 runs, walked six and struck out eight.
The Athletics used four pitchers in the loss—Brianna Pugh, Brea Murphy, Lexie McNew and Caitlin Hartsel. The quartet allowed one hit, 19 runs, walked 25 and struck out two.
Chavers had the lone hit for the Dodgers while Ashley Hammons, Pugh, McNew and Caitlyn Wilson all had singles for the Athletics and Murphy had two singles.
