Two officers with Southern Pine Electric Cooperative were recently elected to serve on the board of the directors for the Alabama Rural Electric Associa-tion of Cooper-atives.
The election was held April 12 during the association’s annual meeting in Montgomery.
Johnson serves as general manager and chief executive officer of Southern Pine Electric Cooperative, Inc., headquarter in Brewton. He will serve on the association’s executive, governance and public relations and strategic planning committees.
Lang, who serves as a member of Southern Pine’s board of trustees, will serve on the association’s member services and legislative committees.
AREA’s board also elected George Kitchens of Jo Wheeler Electric Member Corp., in Decatur as chairman of the board. Patsy Holmes of Central Alabama Electric Cooperative in Prattville was elected as vice chairman and Randy Brannon of Pea River Electric Cooperative in Ozark will serve as secretary-treasurer.
The annual meeting for AREA staff and members for 2012 marked the 65th anniversary of the annual event.
The meeting attracted some 500 cooperative leaders and supporters from across the state.
